~Wanting a Clear Explanation~

*Beep... Beep... Beep-*

It sounded faint, more like a small cricket in the bushes many feet away. But wait - it didn't sound like that - maybe more robotic than a small creature. Unclear of the situation, he tried his best to peel open his auburn eyes. Hmm? That again? The 13 year-old's arms rested on his abdomen, and his legs shuffled in his slumber. He was sweating, not too much, but enough to make it visible.
*-Beep. Beep. Beep-*
A little louder this time, making it clear that this sound was not even a couple feet away. Fear took it's place in the young boy's mind, making his whole body shuffle in his uncomfortable sleep. His hand was now rested on his now sweating forehead, and his legs were fighting with the blankets in his bed. This is just another nightmare, right?
*-beep...beep...beep-"
It started fading, now 15 feet away, 16, 17, until you could hear feeble whispers in the backdrop. Fear had now fully taken it's place in the suffering boy's body. One of his hands were unconsciously wiping the beads of sweat off of his forehead, while the other was tightly grasping onto his black shirt. His legs were now violently kicking at the blankets; slowly tugging it away from his upper body. His mind focused on the voices, they sounded like they were right next to him, yet they were so tranquil. They sound somewhat... familiar. He flinched at the
vocalization of these unknown figures he kept hearing. They sounded apprehensive, anxious, and thrilled. This scared him for some reason. But why wouldn't it?
The voices started to get a little louder at some point, just until his minds took over...
"AHHH!" he fell to the ground followed by a big thump. His heart was racing, his hand were shaking, and his face was pale white. Anxiety had been put into his body and he was damn right shaken up. The voices snapped right out of his head when his eyes shot open, and Ash Ketchum definitely wasn't looking forward to going back to sleep later...
"Ash?" A voice spoke up just as footsteps started racing to the room that Ash had uneasily slept in. The door swung open and a young teenager came rushing in to help her fallen friend. Although his mind was in the state of confusion, he recognized the girl when his eyes fixed on her profile. She had an indescribable shade of purple hair with maroon colored eyes, a light pink and tan dress with loose sleeves, and white nylons with a pink trim. Wow, did she like pink -at least that's what Ash thought.
"I'm okay, Iris," He stuttered, "I just had a weird dream."
"You've been doing that for WEEKS! Something else has to be wrong!" she snapped as she helped him up.
He flinched. He didn't have an explanation for all of this. The young 13 year-old was actually pretty confused... The last time he had heard these sounds was the very second day he became a trainer, but this, this was worse. The voices were more clear, and the beeping sounds were scarier than ever. Being the dense idiot that he is, he couldn't put his finger on it.
"Seriously, I'm fine." he muttered to his worried friend. Ash had never been so confused in his life. Of course he had become confused about something in the past, but never like this. One of the things he didn't understand was his father's disappearance. When Ash was younger, his father had left to become a Pokemon Master, just as Ash had when he became ten. Although he knows his father is gone for that reason, he couldn't help but to question why he hasn't come back. There are many other confusing situations in his existence, but nothing compared to his weird dreams that had been going on for a MONTH. This was something that had gotten so disturbing, that he actually started considering telling someone. And he usually never tells ANYONE about his problems. The only person he had told about his troubled life was his best and closest companion. Misty.
She was a scrawny red-head that could not and would not shut up. She was stubborn and irritating, but had a good side to her. Misty had beautiful oceanic blue eyes that accented her fiery red/orange hair. Her hair would always be hung up in her signature ponytail, but Ash liked it when she had it down. But of course he wouldn't admit that. In fact, Ash didn't really understand his relationship with Misty. In his brain, Misty was just a stupid red-head that annoyed the heck out of him, but in his heart, it says something different. Yet another thing that confused him...

Getting to his feet, he walked with his friend down the hall of the Pokemon Center and into the main lobby. He was still a little shaky from the morning scare, but everything flew out of his system when he smelled the gourmet food that Cilan -another one of Ash's travelling partners- elegantly prepared for Ash and Iris. The aroma of pancakes filled the air of the center, leaving all of the hungry guests and trainers gaze in lust. Ash looked down upon his plate, letting himself take in all of the scent. His fingers hovered over the fork. Slowly touching the tip of the fork, he flipped it up and sliced through pancake. In less than a couple minutes, he had fully devoured all three pancakes that had rested on his plate. Ash was never the person to waste food...

"Dang, Ash! Slow down..." Iris said as she pushed him.
"Well, I was hungry!" He shouted back in defense.
"You're ALWAYS hungry! Ugh, such a kid!" She yelled back while rolling her eyes.
"...whatever."
Getting up, he grabbed his hat and strut outside. He took in the fresh morning air and spread his arms out, taking in all of the beauty. Ahh... Nothing but trees and Pokemon! So pretty! he said to himself.
"Pika!" a loud, high-pitched squeak came from behind; soon to land on top of his shoulder. Ash turned his head to see his one-and-only companion. The yellow mouse hopped on his shoulder and gave him a friendly smile. Ash returned it back - as usual.

"So guys, where are we headed?" Ash's voice sounded as excited as every other day. His voice wasn't as high-pitched as before, but he still sounded like the kid he has always been.
"We're headed to the White Ruins, stupid." Iris mumbled harshly, making Ash roll his eyes. The two teens bickered frequently, so this wasn't too surprising.
______________

"Is he waking up?"
"I don't really know, but today might be the day."
"Do you think you should call his mother?"
"Hmm... We should wait."

What the hell? Was he daydreaming or something? Not only was he hearing these noises in his sleep, but now he was hearing them when he was awake?! Something was going on, but still, he couldn't put his finger on it. It was too peculiar. As hours passed, they all had their normal day as trainers: Battling, eating, talking, and resting...

...But today...

Today was different. Ash wasn't really himself the whole day. He has always been so confident and head-strong. Right now, something was definitely wrong with him. Iris noticed this and took it lightly, while Cilan took it a little seriously...
"Ash, would you mind telling what what's the matter? You've been acting strange all day..." Cilan said, giving Iris the courage to speak up as well.
"Yeah, Ash. At least tell us what's wrong."
Ash stood there silent. What could he say? ...
"I... I -- uh... I don't know." Ash answered.
"Give it up, Ash. We know there's something wrong with you..." Iris sternly looked, making Ash sigh.
"I've... I've been hearing voices... like... in my head." He admitted.
Both of them stood silent just as Ash did when they asked him.
"So you're.... schizophrenic?!" Iris blurted out, making Cilan sweat-drop.
... *facepalm*
